Ronald Samuel Dart (born 1950, Toronto), BA (Lethbridge); DCS, MCS (Regent College), MA (UBC), PhD studies at McMaster University, is a university professor, author, and ACC mountaineer. Dart teaches in the Department of Political Science, Philosophy and Religious Studies at University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia. "He has become the most important writer about the Red Tory tradition in Canada."〔Robin Mathews, "Introduction," in Ron Dart, Stephen Leacock: Canada's Red Tory Prophet (Dewdney, BC: Synaxis Press, 2006).〕 He has authored over twenty books that deal with the interface between literature, spirituality and politics, including Thomas Merton and the Beats of the North Cascades. He is one of the primary experts on the life and thought of both Stephen Leacock and George Grant and their place in the pantheon of traditional Canadian conservative thought.〔Brad Jersak, "Ron Dart and the Red Tory Alternative," Clarion Journal (4 Aug 2010).〕 He is the political science advisor to the Stephen Leacock Museum in Orillia, Ontario, and a board member of the Thomas Merton Society of Canada.
